Ahoy me Hearties, time for a little ‘pirate prate’ from the Department of Ahoyment. Appropriate reference to ‘me Hearties’ in the wake of Venus’s Transit, I think, as affairs of the heart seem to be paramount at the moment. I have spoken at length to many friends (and fellow pirates) about the astrological and emotional links with Venus’s recent jaunt and ‘stormy waters’ and ‘unchartered territory’ seem fair analogies to make. It has indeed been stiff sailing for a little while but as all good pirates know, you must keep your eyes to the horizon and have faith that calm waters will follow the surliest storms.
Emotionally I feel we are over the worst; we have indeed sailed through storms into new waters, calmer seas and happily, treasure-filled tides. It is now up to us to seek the treasure that is ours by Divine Right. At the beginning of the year I spoke to ace astrologer, (and probable pirate, I have to say) Jonathan Cainer who predicted that 2012 is the year that we will find our purpose in life, connect with our Divine Path and discover our true selves.
I always associate true self and Divine Paths with whatever it was made you happy as a kid; what your heart desired and pursued before head got involved. I don’t recall carrying out much piracy in my childhood but I guess one of those beautiful gnarled old beech boughs in the woods where I played could have been a Galleon at some stage – I know one was Black Bess rather than The Black Pig, and maybe that was close enough.
I am deliciously drawn to the Pirate World. It’s a recent thing. Or at least my awareness of it is recent. As I have mentioned, in accordance with New Age, new thinking and new beginnings, I have taken it upon myself to evolve a new Pirate Council, one of White Wings rather than Black Beards. I have had my fair share of run-ins with the old fashioned pirates – those who rob, rape and pillage and am done with all that now. Thanks for the offer guys but ‘no thanks’ – things have moved on and so have I.
As you would expect, my recently recruited white winged crew are rather special. We seek calm waters, do not steal others treasure – preferring to dive deep for our own, we only embrace the ‘able-bodied Seamen’ who are worthy and we have ditched the ship’s rats in favour of deck doves. Oh and of course we are a (w)anchor-free zone.
Our Charter insists on authenticity, congruency, integrity, truth, communication, passion and compassion. Endorphins are evoked by loud music rather than looting, (think The Boat That Rocked) and life is worn like a light cloak rather than a tight pair of pirate pants. Safe harbours are shunned in favour of new horizons; deep water has preference over anything shallow; high seas replace low energy; love is unconditional; participating optional and forgiveness overrides fighting; afterall to err is human but to arr is pirate.
