I am reminded of a saying “I try to take a day at a time but sometimes I get hit by a week at once,“ – well I seem to get overtaken by a week at a time …
Despite not managing to have blogged about being barefoot for a little while, I have nonetheless managed to be barefoot for a lot of the time. It’s still proving to be as liberating as ever and I did indeed smile when I recently read the following, “Imagine you are walking barefoot on the Earth. Ten to one (like me) you will be smiling at the thought. That’s no accident! When we touch the body of our planet we, in turn, are restoring our ancient connection with it. Incidentally, walking barefoot has proven to be highly beneficial for our health (but choose your spot with care, away from dog walkers).”
This is taken from a fabulous book that I was given for my birthday, “Energy Secrets” by Alla Svirinskaya. It is quite amazing, the relevant angelic gifts that are winging their way toward me these days. I recently interviewed the beautiful Perry Haldenby. ‘Beautiful’ because he is authentic and true to himself and his life path. A few years ago he was a body builder who owned a couple of nightclubs and enjoyed late nights, red wine and red meat. Today he meditates and practises yoga every day, is a raw food disciple after training at the Tree of Life with Gabriel Cousens and is learning biodynamic gardening. During our interview he said many wise things which resonated, one of them being, “We’re at where we’re at, we must remember to trust in all things spiritual and to be true to ourselves.” He also admitted that his path wasn’t easy but was nonetheless ‘his choice’ and that by managing his lifestyle and diet so consciously it resulted in him taking increased responsibility for other aspects of his life too.
That reminded me of being barefoot – because you need to be aware of where you are treading, it keeps you focussed and in the Now and that elevated level of personal responsibility organically seeps into other areas of your life. And it feels good; not necessarily easy but good.
My own diet has improved dramatically since being barefoot; it’s as though the greater the connection that is established with the Earth and with Mother Nature, the greater the desire to eat and live in a way to honour both myself and her. I no longer want to eat meat and am consciously making healthy choices – in all that I do. I’m sure it is no coincidence that that both the contents of ‘Energy Secrets’ and Perry’s wise words run parallel and are already leading to an increase in energy – both spiritually and physically.
The further I travel along this unshodden path, the less I want to be shod; the more I want to be barefoot. It’s addictive or maybe it’s just authentic …. or could authenticity be addictive? Not necessarily easy but addictive …… xx
