My own Garden Medicine Cabinet was put to good use this week as a visiting friend unfortunately got stung on her head by one of my bees.
I crushed up a Greater Plantain leaf (see photo) to rub on the site of the sting (after removing the actual barb) and then made a tea from the bark of the guelder rose tree in the garden, to relieve her headache. Both remedies worked quickly and effectively, impressing the both of us. She is now keen to learn more about herbal remedies and hedgerow foraging, though has no desire to keep bees.
